IBM's Ultrastar 36Z15 - high-performance 15,000 RPM hard disk drive and the first to achieve 36 gigabytes (GB) of storage capacity at this speed. The drive, with its peak performance, is ideal for I/O-intensive tasks such as Web hosting, e-commerce applications, data mining and transaction processing. In addition to a new capacity point and shorter latency, the Ultrastar achieves a media transfer rate of up to 160 MegaBytes (MB) per second and seek time as low as 3.4 milliseconds (ms). Faster seek times and data transfer rates speed up information retrieval, and contribute to the overall performance of the drive.
